Disgraced former FBI boss James Comey appeared in federal court Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on two felony charges for posting a veiled death threat against President Trump.
The smug ex-director thought he was being clever with an Instagram snap of seashells arranged as “86 47” on a beach walk. Prosecutors saw right through it: “86” is slang for “get rid of” or eliminate, and 47 refers to Trump as the 47th president. DOJ says it was a serious threat transmitted across state lines.
Each count carries up to five years behind bars, meaning Comey is staring down a decade in the slammer if convicted. No more hiding behind fancy law enforcement credentials or deep state buddies.
This is what accountability looks like. The same guy who weaponized the FBI against Trump and lectured America about norms now has to answer for his own reckless words. Liberals are already crying “free speech,” but threats against the president aren’t protected.
