After years of retirement at the Davis-Monthan AFB “Boneyard,” a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber nicknamed “Apocalypse II” has been officially resurrected and returned to active service at Dyess AFB. This rare decision to restore an aircraft from long-term storage was made to replace another B-1B lost to an engine fire in early 2024, ensuring the fleet maintains the inventory levels mandated by Congress.
