U.S. Warns Future Iraqi Government Against Including Armed Groups

The United States has warned Iraq’s future government against including armed factions operating outside state authority in the upcoming cabinet, according to Kurdistan24 .

A senior U.S. official reportedly urged Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi to clearly separate state institutions from armed groups and publicly declare that such factions would not participate in the government.

The warning comes as Iraq faces growing economic pressure, with public debt reportedly approaching 96 trillion Iraqi dinars, while debt-to-GDP estimates range around 40–45% according to recent Iraqi financial assessments.
