The April 16 assault sparked raging fires that burned for days, dealing a sharp blow to one of Moscow’s vital petroleum refining and export hubs. Tuapse processes and ships out millions of tons of fuel each year, cash that bankrolls Putin’s war machine.
Ukrainian special forces claimed direct hits on the refinery complex, turning the site into a blazing inferno visible for miles. Russian officials reported civilian casualties in the area, including a teenage girl killed, but the main target took a heavy punch to its operations.
