The Sahel region is the world’s most impacted area, experiencing a 2,860% increase in deaths over the last 15 years, with Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger being the most affected.
Islamic State (IS) and its affiliates remain a primary, deadly force, though the threat is increasingly driven by localized, non-state groups.
