NEWSOM FORCED TO BEG TRUMP FOR HELP AS CALIFORNIA CHEMICAL TANK CRISIS EXPOSES ONE-PARTY FAILURE
Orange County officials delivered a critical update on the Garden Grove chemical tank emergency that has displaced 50,000 residents and dragged into its fifth day.
Interim Orange County Fire Authority Chief TJ McGovern reported that firefighters conducted a late-night inspection and discovered a crack in the pressurized tank containing methyl methacrylate.
“We developed a plan to go do an operation last night, late night to go get eyes and do a reconnaissance on the tank,” McGovern said. “During that operation, our firefighters went in and they were able to visualize the tank. What they found was a potential crack in the tank, which could potentially be relieving some of the pressure in there.”
He added: “With this new information, it could change our trajectory and our strategy to this event. Last night was a successful operation for this emerging incidence in this ongoing incident.”
The crack is now being verified by engineers and hazmat teams while crews continue cooling efforts to keep the tank temperature under 85F after it hit 90F. No chemical leaks have been detected so far, but evacuation orders remain in place.
Gavin Newsom has now formally begged President Trump for a federal emergency declaration to bring in more resources as the state struggles to contain the situation at the GKN Aerospace site.
