“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strongest condemnation of the targeting of its territory at dawn today, Saturday, June 27, 2026, by a number of Iranian drones, in a blatant violation of its sovereignty, a flagrant threat to the security of citizens and residents, and a blatant breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit targeting civilian objects and terrorizing innocent people.
While the Ministry condemns this heinous aggression, it affirms that the Iranian regime’s continued attacks, at a time when regional and international efforts are moving towards de-escalation, place the sole responsibility on Tehran for undermining peace efforts, and reveals an approach based on destabilizing security, exporting chaos, and undermining regional stability.
Based on the Kingdom’s firm principles, the Ministry reiterates that peace is not built through intimidation, that security is not seized through aggression, that Bahrain’s resolve is stronger than any threat, and that the unity of its national ranks is more difficult for anyone who thinks that continuing aggression will deter honorable people from their principles or diminish their resolve.
Recalling Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), submitted by the Kingdom on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, and supported by 136 countries in a unanimous expression of international will, the Ministry affirms that Tehran’s continued aggression constitutes a direct challenge to this international will. Despite pledging a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the region’s states under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17, 2026, its treacherous aggression reveals its disregard for the international community and its own commitments.
While affirming its full and legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and stability in accordance with international law, the Ministry calls upon the Security Council to uphold its responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of its resolution and holding the aggressor accountable.”
