Then he asked the question hanging over the whole region: if and when do I blow the entire nation up?

Trump said he is in deciding mode and that very big things are coming in the not-so-distant future. Some Iranian leaders, he added, are hiding like rats. He remains open to sitting down with Iranian President Pezeshkian this week after Tehran sent a list of demands. At the same time, the United States is talking with the Houthis, who have now agreed not to fight America.
The president cut short his Camp David trip Saturday night and returned to the White House. He was already working Sunday morning. This week includes the United Nations in New York followed by a state visit and dinner with President Xi. The timing is no accident.
For years Iran used proxies, threatened the Strait of Hormuz, and chased nuclear capability while previous administrations talked. Trump is using strength first. The Houthis backing off is the proof. Diplomacy is still on the table, but only because the military option is real. Weakness invited this mess. Resolve is how it ends. Pray for peace, but do not mistake peace for surrender.
