WSE opens first British ELT centre in Laos

Wimbledon School of English has announced the opening of the first British English language centre in Laos, WSE Vientiane, in partnership with Panyathip International School.

The agreement between WSE and Panyathip was signed in August 2018 between WSE managing director Jane Dancaster and founder and director of Panyathip International School, Pathana Panyathip.

The signing was witnessed by the minister of State for Asia and the Pacific, Mark Field MP, and the ambassador to Laos, Hugh Evans.

WSE Vientiane will provide IELTS and English for Academic Purposes courses to students from Panyathip International School and the local area, as well as providing general English and business and professional courses to the local clientele.

Dancaster said the team was “delighted” to be the first British English language centre to open in Laos and have the opportunity to work with inspiring educational practitioners.

“As one of the leading international schools in Laos, Panyathip International School is the perfect partner for WSE,” she said.

“We share the same educational values and commitment to quality in everything we do and we are looking forward to working together to ensure that we provide top quality courses and associated services.”

WSE Vientiane will also assist students intending to join the University of Nottingham’s Foundation Program, which is delivered in partnership with Panyathip International School following a memorandum of agreement signing ceremony with the University of Nottingham Malaysia in January.

Speaking about the MOA, University of Nottingham Malaysia CEO Graham Kendall said the partnership with Panyathip provides millennials in Laos the opportunity to study for a foundation course without having to leave their home country.

“Although, they are welcome to come to any of our campuses for a short period to give them the global experience that is so important these days,” he added.
